Parliamentary Interpreter (Hindi/English):   

The syllabus of the Written Test for recruitment to the post of Parliamentary Interpreter (English/Hindi) in the Rajya Sabha Secretariat is as under:
Paper – I
General Intelligence
Questions shall be both verbal and non-verbal types. Test may include questions on analogies, similarities, differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship, concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, coding & decoding, etc.
General Awareness
Questions shall aim at testing the candidate’s awareness of current events and environment around him, besides testing the knowledge of Everyday Science, Scientific Research, Sports, Indian Culture, Indian History, Indian Geography, Economics, Indian Polity, Indian Constitution, etc.
English Language and Hindi Language
Questions in this component shall be designed to test the candidate’s understanding, correct usage and knowledge of English and Hindi Languages and will be based on error recognition, fill in the blanks (using Verbs, Prepositions, etc.), vocabulary, spellings, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, sentence completion, phrases and idioms, etc.
Paper – II
Translation in English and Hindi

This paper will contain passages for translation- one passage for translation from Hindi to English and one passage for translation from English to Hindi. The other questions in the paper shall test the candidate’s translation skills, his/her knowledge of the Hindi & English languages, including familiarity with Parliamentary expressions, language used in Parliamentary debates and discussions and his/her knowledge of the
general phrases/terminologies etc. The paper shall also test his/her ability to write the two languages correctly, precisely and effectively.


Parliamentary Interpreter (Regional Languages):  

The syllabus of the Written Test for recruitment to the post of Parliamentary Interpreter (Regional Language) in the Rajya Sabha Secretariat is as under:

Questions in this component shall be designed to test the candidate’s understanding, correct usage and knowledge of the regional language based on error recognition, vocabulary, spellings, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, phrases and idioms etc. The paper shall also test the candidate’s knowledge of history and classical literature of the regional language.
Paper – II
Translation (Regional Language to English)
This paper will contain passages for translation from Regional Language to English. The other questions in the paper shall test the candidate’s translation skills, his/her knowledge of the Regional Language, including familiarity with Parliamentary expressions, language used in Parliamentary debates and discussions and his/her knowledge of the general phrases/terminologies etc. The paper shall also test his/her ability to write the regional language correctly, precisely and effectively.
   
Assistant Legislative/Committee/Protocol/Executive Officer:

The syllabus of the Preliminary Examination (Objective type) and the Main Examination (Descriptive type) for recruitment to the post of Assistant Legislative/Committee/Protocol/Executive Officer in the Rajya Sabha Secretariat is as under:

Paper II: Constitution of India
This paper is designed to test the candidates knowledge of the Indian Constitution and its working, particularly in respect of its nature, salient features of the Indian Constitution; Preamble; Fundamental Rights; Directive Principles of State Policy; Fundamental Duties; Constitutional position and powers of President and Governor; Parliament-officers of Parliament, disqualification of Members, powers, privileges & immunities, legislative procedure; Supreme Court and High Courts-jurisdiction, powers, appointment and transfer of
judges; Separation of Powers; Distribution of Legislative and Administrative Powers between Union and States; Elections; Emergency Provisions; Amendment of the Constitution; other related issues; and the Tenth Schedule.
   Translator:
